David A.R. White is an actor, writer, director and producer in Hollywood. Though he has many credits to his name, White’s career hit new heights with the release�of the blockbuster film God’s Not Dead, in which he also starred. He is currently the most visible actor/producer in�faith films, having starred in and produced over forty films. Another "overnight success story" years in the making - Inspiring!

I was fortunate to be part of the Launch Team for Between Heaven & Hollywood in exchange for my honest review. Since I have finished reading my honest review is what follows.
If you like to read and learn from someone else’s life journey, learn from others’ successes and failures then Between Heaven & Hollywood by David A. R. White is a book you should add to your library. If you have a dream you have yet to live then this is definitely a book for you. The sub-title is Chasing Your God-Given Dream.
If you have heard of Pure Flix Entertainment and enjoyed and been moved by the God’s Not Dead movies (if you haven’t seen these I highly recommend them as well) you will recognize Pastor Dave and I expect will enjoy reading about where he came from, how he made it to Hollywood (probably not an example all will want to follow), and how he has ‘made it’ after reaching Hollywood. It is another ‘years in the making’ overnight success story. It may inspire you to pursue and realize your God-given dreams or you may be forced to accept one of the five reasons you may never realize your God-given dream.
After reading this book you will want to go back and watch some of his previous work. Even if you don’t “know” him he has that look of familiarity that makes you wonder, “Where have I seen him before?” Maybe it was on TV in Evening Shade in the early 1990’s with Burt Reynolds or in one of his other movies such as Revelation Road. In any case, you will be entertained and learn something from this book and that is what I look for in the books I choose to read. It met those goals for me.
A few of lessons from the book:
1) Why you should not have a Plan B and what to do when your Plan A doesn’t work.
2) Look at any calendar and you will notice that 'someday' is not a day at all.
3) Your dream is your ministry. The thing that burns in your heart and keeps you up at night is God's calling on you.
4) Why some never achieve their God-given dream

“Oftentimes we Christians believe we are entitled to a lifetime of undefeated seasons.”

This book was exactly what I needed!

Being a huge fan of the God's Not Dead movies, and one of those weird people who do actually watch the bonus features, I became a big fan of David A.R. White. He plays the pastor in both films, but I had no idea he was also the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Pure Flix, makers of some of my favorite movies, like God's Not Dead 1-2 and Mom's Night Out (a movie I laughed so hard I cried and loved so much I watched it twice in one day). The more I learned about Mr. White the more impressed I became with his life and what he tries to do with it.
The son of a Mennonite minister he lived a sheltered life, only ever seeing one movie (Grease,�on an outing with a friend's family)�in the first 18 years of his life.�
Mr. White goes into his past to show readers how just because your a good Christian it doesn't mean your life will be without hard times, failures, and heart break ("we should expect life to stink sometimes, even for those of us who belong to God through faith in Christ"). But what I loved the most was how he explains that dreams, those things you feel inspired to do,�but are so afraid to try, are actually from God and that He created you with everything you need�to achieve them ("Courage is not the absence of fear but the triumph over it and the understanding that what lies on the other side of fear is something worth risking." and "Turn your focus away from all the obstacles you feel are in your way (real or imagined) and concentrate on God, who is capable of anything..."). I love how he talks about the fact that no two people are alike, which proves that each individual was created to bring something specific that�only they could bring into the world.
"You are here for a reason--that reason, that unique destiny, is found in your God-given dream."
This is a wonderful book�that is both entertaining and inspiring while staying "real". This is definitely not your typical "self-help" book. It makes you no life-altering promises, which he tells you was�his intent. It's simply a beautiful story of one man's journey toward his dream and how he kept God at the center of everything. I highly recommend this read.

Honest and funny, a life worth living

I have been a fan of White's for years. I watched him in the movie "Six" with Stephen Baldwin and knew I would be seeing more of him. It is his honest portrayal on whatever character he portrays that has made me a fan of his. When I found out he had a book I had to get it... and wasn't disappointed. His honesty and humor shine through his book only to be eclipsed by his love for God. This is a man who not only has an honest portrayal of characters in movies but is open and honest with his personal life. You will laugh out loud, count on it, when you read of his journey to Hollywood. His life is a mirror of what God can do with us when we just believe.
